CHANCES (Caring, Helping, and Nurturing Children Every Step) is a province-wide, non-profit charitable organization in Prince Edward Island, dedicated to supporting children from the prenatal period to age 11 and the families who care for them. Through an integrated network of early learning programs, family supports, home visiting, and community navigation services, CHANCES works collaboratively with government, health, and community partners to strengthen child development outcomes across the province.

Each year, CHANCES responds to the needs of thousands of children and families, with a particular focus on those experiencing additional life challenges. Supported by a blended funding model that includes provincial and federal partners and community donors, CHANCES continues to play a vital role in building healthy families and resilient communities across PEI.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will provide strategic and operational leadership. Working in close partnership with a dedicated Board and a talented team, the Executive Director will provide strategic direction, steward long-term sustainability, and amplify the visibility and impact of CHANCES across the province.

The ideal candidate brings at least five years of progressive leadership experience, with the ability to lead at the executive level and to shape and execute strategic plans that drive stability and impact. With strong business and operational acumen, they are adept at financial stewardship, funding development, human resources, and program oversight, and ideally bring experience reporting to a Board. Recognized as a collaborative and future-oriented leader, they are known for building capacity, guiding organizations through change, and fostering a culture of inclusivity and resilience. They are a trusted relationship builder, capable of engaging with diverse constituents, including government.

The Executive Director demonstrates cultural competence and sensitivity, as well as a proven commitment to inclusion, to effectively meet the needs of diverse families while fostering accountability to funders. Prior experience in large not-for-profit or government organizations with multiprogram oversight and a strong understanding of early childhood and family needs is considered an asset. Above all, the successful candidate will demonstrate an authentic passion for mission-driven work and a deep commitment to CHANCES’ mission.

The salary range for this position is $145,000 - $160,000 per year, plus an attractive, comprehensive employer-paid benefits package and an RRSP program.
