Managing Director, Wind Energy
Invest Nova Scotia
Halifax, NS
Drive growth. Fuel innovation. Shape the future of Nova Scotia.
Invest Nova Scotia empowers businesses of all sizes to leverage the province’s natural advantages and deliver world-class solutions for Canada and global markets, focusing on three key areas of economic growth: investment attraction, start-up and scale-up, and export and market diversification. This is a rare opportunity to help Nova Scotia become an economic success story, turning local potential into lasting prosperity.
As a provincial crown corporation reporting to the Department of Growth and Development, Invest Nova Scotia’s team is as innovative and energetic as the clients we serve. We are a client and people-centric organization, and we care deeply about the work we do, guided by our values and our passion to help the companies we work with grow and succeed.
Nova Scotia is emerging as a global clean-energy hub, where powerful natural resources meet bold ambition. From offshore and onshore wind to tidal, solar, and other green energy sources, the province is poised to become an energy superpower. Recent federal recognition of Wind West as Canada’s first offshore wind project of national interest is an example of the scale of opportunity for Nova Scotia - reinforcing the potential to attract billions in capital, create jobs, and provide prosperity for generations.
Reporting to the Vice President, Investment Attraction, the Managing Director will be accountable for leading Invest Nova Scotia’s promotion and business development efforts for offshore and onshore wind - as well as tidal and solar energy streams - playing a key role in advancing investment attraction to bring developers, capital, and supply chain and service partners together. Working in close collaboration and partnership with investment attraction colleagues, the Department of Energy, industry and other key stakeholders, they will lead high-profile investment opportunities, advance cross-sector strategies, and help shape provincial priorities such as innovative procurement, regulatory efficiency, and international market engagement.
The ideal candidate has at least 10 years of progressive leadership experience in the energy sector, gained through global business development, investment attraction, corporate strategy, or economic development roles. They are a highly respected executive with extensive global networks and a broad understanding of Nova Scotia’s energy landscape, assets, and emerging opportunities. The Managing Director brings proven experience in leveraging domestic and international relationships to attract capital, partners, and projects. Experience in offshore wind is a significant asset; experience with major projects and public-private partnerships is also an advantage. They have solid financial acumen and are highly collaborative with strong executive presence and exceptional communication skills. A Master’s degree in a related field is considered an asset. With a demonstrated track record of leading complex sales engagements, they are well-positioned to provide strategic oversight, executive relationship management, and drive business development efforts to help secure clean-energy investment and growth in Nova Scotia.
