Invest Nova Scotia is seeking an accomplished and inspiring executive to serve as Vice President, Investment Attraction. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and serving as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, the Vice President will lead the strategy and team responsible for attracting foreign direct investment, creating high-value jobs, new capital investment, and advancing long-term economic growth across Nova Scotia. A highly effective people leader, they will establish a clear vision, unite an experienced team around shared priorities, and foster the trust, accountability, collaboration, and professional growth required to achieve ambitious results.
The Vice President will bring commercial discipline and market insight to evaluating complex opportunities, focusing resources on those with the greatest potential, and advancing investments involving multiple stakeholders, significant capital, and government support or incentives. They will use market intelligence, pipeline data, and performance metrics to sharpen decision-making, strengthen accountability, and drive continuous improvement.
Creative, commercially minded, and outcomes-focused, the Vice President will connect global market opportunities with Nova Scotia’s sector strengths and capabilities. Working across Invest Nova Scotia and with government, industry, municipalities, Indigenous communities, post-secondary institutions, and regional partners, they will address barriers to investment and develop tailored solutions that strengthen the province’s competitive position. As a trusted advisor and representative of Nova Scotia, they will bring credibility, diplomacy, and sound judgment to high-profile discussions, negotiations, presentations, trade missions, and investment forums.
The ideal candidate brings significant executive leadership experience in investment attraction, strategic sales, business development, international business, economic development, or a comparable commercial environment. They have successfully developed high-performing professional sales teams, managed complex and long-cycle opportunities, and delivered measurable growth and business outcomes. Politically astute, resilient, and adaptable, they can lead through ambiguity and evolving political, economic, and geopolitical conditions. They will have the executive presence, credibility, sound judgment, and commercial acumen required to represent Nova Scotia in high-profile international settings, build confidence with investors and partners, and contribute meaningfully to the province's long-term economic growth.
A post-secondary degree in business, commerce, economic development, or related discipline is preferred; an equivalent combination of education and executive leadership experience will be considered.
